Everyone loves the Sushi Shaped
28.11.2009

Last night was crazy, the Sushi Shaped logo I made in 3D really rocked at HOD! As you can see, the photo above are stills from a film. Yes I filmed a lot with my Canon 500D last night so you can expect the video I’m making for Sushi Shaped very soon! Just give me some time for the editing and diving into the “Sushi Cave” aka studio for music.
Work in progress
19.11.2009

Yesterday I started a little project, making the Sushi Shaped logo 3D. The logo is designed with the Shaped typeface. November the 27th will be the first time Sushi Shaped (dj and producer) rocking at a party named HOD so of course they wanted something special for the photos. They finally gonna show us what the’ve made in the “Sushi Cave” aka studio together with the Firebeatz, Ryan Marciano and Sunnery James and maybe his girlfriend Doutzen Kroes. So come and see the Sushi Shaped logo in 3D! More infomation for the party click here.
Smart concept
17.11.2009

Today’s advertising class was pretty cool. We had a briefing who asks a campaign for Smart with the thought they are environment friendly and don’t need much fuel. The ad I made tells you the Smart can drive a long time with just a little fuel. “Hier ligt een halve kilometer”. I also added 1:30 on the logo (click here for a better look). The teacher liked it and gave me two nines for the concept and execution. The only critic was that the half kilometer should had be more, something like 5 kilometers and yes I think he’s right.
The other part of the lesson Pim Vuik came by. A well-known advertising photographer. His story was really instructive and very inspiring. He told us about him as photographer working with several art directors and how they solve problems in projects.
Enamel Alphabet
16.11.2009

Like this alphabet made by Hyperkit. This alphabet gives every glyph three styles. When you order your choice it will be screen printed on plaques. See the full character set here. It looks pretty in my opinion so think it gonna buy it for making my new housenumber, 140b2! The Enamel Alphabet is available at the Hyperkit Shop.
Visualize The Sound
12.11.2009
Another school assignment, visualize the sound. I don’t think you see this one back but I took a part of the song Ghosts N Stuff by deadmau5. This draw is a sketch, in the end we gonna make a typographic filpbook from our sound. Btw my inc fell over my MacBook so that explains the tissue ;)
Blakroc — Mos Def & Jim Jones
11.11.2009
I like this new video and sound from Mos Def and Jim Jones named Ain’t Nothing Like You (Hoochie Coo). This cool videoclip feels a bit like a jam session and I’m wondering if it’s shots with a Canon. The sound is a part of the Blakroc project where people like Jim Jones, Mos Def, Q-Tip, RZA, Raekwon, Ludacris, Pharoahe Monch, NOE, Nicole Wray, Billy Danze and Ol’ Dirty Bastard collaborated 11 days in studio and came out with 11 tracks! Looks like the album will be dropped on 27 November “Black Friday” the day after Thanksgiving. I’m very curious about this album project. I also found this video about the upcoming documentary about the Blakroc project.
The Streethearts
10.11.2009

I really love this beautiful blog Streethearts, designed by HEYDAYS. The Streethearts are two photographers, Andreas Schjønhaug and Eirik Slyngstad. So no crappy pictures but wonderful shots from well dressed people from the street. A really nice thing is that you can search people from the street by brand or what kind of clothes they are wearing. Most of the pictures were made in Oslo because that’s where they live, is everyone in Oslo so well dressed? So fashion geeks check out this blog. Also watch Streethearts as HEYDAYS project in their portfolio.
The Carter documentary
09.11.2009
About a week this documentary will be released. I think a closer look on Lil Wayne will be very interested to see because this personality is one of a kind and many people got several opinions about him. Adam Bhala Lough filmed Lil Wayne in 2008 and his 80 minutes documentary was screened on Sundance Festival last January. So that are enough reasons to looking forward to this documentary.
Studio Culture
01.11.2009

Last weekend I finally received this gorgeous book. Studio Culture provides a unique glimpse into the inner workings of 28 leading graphic design studios. Reading this book is really a pleasure, a lovely add to my small but fast growing collection. Published by Unit Editions and designed by Spin. I love the layout of this book and the folded paper on the cover is really a smart one.
Spheres Of Fury
31.10.2009
Another video shoot with an digital photo camera, this time they used the newest Canon 7D. I always like video’s with much sharpen, unsharp compositions. Funny concept of the video, making war with water guns. The video made by Tim Brown and Christopher Hewitt. They called the video “Spheres Of Fury” and it’s a beautiful filmed short video!
